چکیده
Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) Algerian accessions represent an essential source of traits interest for crop improvement, especially tackling climate change, because their genetic background and potential have not been well studied. The purpose this research was to assess the variability 14 by means 10 agro-morphological 7 simple sequence repeat markers (SSRs). ANOVA analysis showed a large significant phenotypic variation in fruit setting (FS), seed length (SL), width (SW), 100-seeds weight (HSW), which arose as main discriminant characters revealed principal component (PCA). In addition, SSR identified total twenty different alleles within our collection with mean 2.85 per locus. polymorphism information content (PIC) ranged from 0.32 0.58, 0.44. Observed heterozygosity (Ho) 0.57 1.00 0.72, while expected one (He) varied 0.42 0.67, reaching 0.57. Based on molecular data, were clustered according geographical pattern, also confirmed coordinate (PCoA). Moreover, AMOVA highlighted that most overall result strong differentiation among (84%). Finally, Mantel test there no substantial correlation between (r = −0.025, p > 0.05). These findings first step toward breeding programs establishment Algeria, indicating exhibited optimal agro- diversity identify specific useful Mediterranean environment.

Growth and yield parameters variability among faba bean (Vicia faba L.) Genotypes
The present investigation aims to study the intraspecific diversity of thirteen faba bean genotypes (Vicia faba L. 2n=12) and to determine some selection criteria for plant breeding. Five yield parameters were studied: plant height (H), branch number per plant (BN/Pl), pod number per plant (PN/Pl), seed number per pod (SN/P) and yield per plant (Y/Pl). With a few exceptions, significant variabi...
متن کاملScreening of faba bean (Vicia faba L.) accessions to acidity and aluminium stresses
BACKGROUND Faba bean is an important starch-based protein crop produced worldwide. Soil acidity and aluminium toxicity are major abiotic stresses affecting its production, so in regions where soil acidity is a problem, there is a gap between the potential and actual productivity of the crop. Hence, we set out to evaluate acidity and aluminium tolerance in a range of faba bean germplasm using so...
متن کاملEnhancing faba bean (Vicia faba L.) genome resources
Grain legume improvement is currently impeded by a lack of genomic resources. The paucity of genome information for faba bean can be attributed to the intrinsic difficulties of assembling/annotating its giant (~13 Gb) genome. In order to address this challenge, RNA-sequencing analysis was performed on faba bean (cv. Wizard) leaves. Read alignment to the faba bean reference transcriptome identif...
متن کاملGenetic diversity in Tunisian populations of faba bean (Vicia faba L.) based on morphological traits and molecular markers.
Genetic diversity within Vicia faba L. is key to the genetic improvement of this important species. In this study, morphological traits and RAPD molecular markers were used to assess the levels of polymorphism across 12 Tunisian populations, three major and nine minor from different locations. Analysis of morphological traits indicated that the three major populations showed significant differe...
متن کاملGene Function Expression Profile of Faba bean (Vicia faba) Seeds
Faba bean (Vicia faba L) is one of the important grain crops worldwide and its genome, the largest among grain legumes (approx. 13.4 Gb), has yet to be sequenced. Comprehensive knowledge of genes expressed in the crop's large seeds would not only help drive new genetic improvements in the crop but also aid its future genome characterization. Here, we applied high throughput RNASeq (Quantificati...
